Concordia University is seeking applicants for the position of Admission Counselor.

The Admission Counselor position represents Concordia University at the front-line of the recruitment process. Success in recruitment is critical to the on-going success of the University. This position serves as a member of the undergraduate Admissions team, where you'll be able to share your recruitment ideas. This position is responsible for taking a pool of applicants and turning them into successful enrollments at Concordia University.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree with liberal arts background.
  • Student recruitment or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with a diverse constituency.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Understanding of customer service principles and generational service needs.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel, rent vehicles, drive in large cities and fly in commercial aircrafts.
  • Proficiency in use of software applications including Microsoft Office applications, databases, spreadsheets and word processing required.
  • Knowledge of Constituent Relationship Management(CRM) and Ellucian software preferred.
  • Member of LCMS congregation preferred.
  • Concordia University graduate preferred.
  • General Duties:

  • Recruits prospective students in a defined territory, exceeding goals when opportunities exist.
  • Devises implements and assesses recruitment plan and strategy in the assigned territory to include visiting high schools, attending college fairs, area receptions, and events.
  • Initiates, plans and executes special on-campus involvement in coordination with other admission staff and faculty.
  • Knows and understands all printed materials on admission and other office support systems such as the registrar, financial aid, and support services.
  • Individualizes admission presentations to visitors during campus visits and at on-campus events. Is familiar with specific academic programs and the institutional philosophy of recruitment.
  • Advises students and families of admission requirements and/or transfer guidelines.
  • Keeps current placement results, career requirements and information for changes in professional opportunities available for parents and prospective students.
  • Collaborates with Financial Aid regarding student expected family contribution to determine federal and institutional financial resources available to meet the needs of the student. Ability to understand and communicate financial aid packages to new students.
  • Works closely with Advancement, Alumni, and academic program areas to coordinate tours, off-site events, and visit opportunities.
  • Available and accessible to incoming students recruited and their parents to ease the transition from home to campus life; provides follow-up to students and parents via phone, letters, e-mail and scheduling of appointments.
  • Develops and analyzes data of past productivity with recruitment projections and personal schedules in order to plan a strategy of visiting and cultivating other sources for recruiting students.
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgment in evaluating program effectiveness, assessing outcomes, and developing improved programming, showing flexibility in the achievement of goals for programs/events.
  • Hires and manage student workforce to initiate communication such as phone calls, e-mails and letters to prospective students in managed territory.
  • Provides monthly admission reports of recruitment territory to the Director of Enrollment Management Initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
