Provide support for sales and marketing of Associations’ loan participations and syndications. Complete bank books and participation documents to support the sales and management of loan syndications/participations. Responsible for internal and external communications on participation/syndication loans and issues. Assure the distribution of accurate, concise information to Lending Partners for our most high profile borrowers. Process amendments, waivers and pertinent communication requests. Coordinate bank meetings with Lending Partners.


Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide transaction support to the AgriBusiness Capital Team in sales and structuring activities, including coordination and communications of credit, and marketing activities and information.
  • Ensure all lead lender responsibilities associated with the Agent/Investor relationship are met. Coordinate communication between originating lenders and lending partners. Assure appropriate actions, timely responses and accurate communications take place by all parties.
  • Review, draft, negotiate and/or analyze participation, and loan documents related to the syndication process determining appropriate documentation templates needed based on transaction. Coordinate execution of sales documentation. Work collaboratively with legal counsel to minimize areas of risk to the Association.
  • Provide back-up to VPs of Structuring and Sales on transaction/syndications communications. Respond to technical questions from internal and external customers on participated/syndicated loans and seek input to resolve Lending Partner issues as needed.
  • Develop and transform credit write-ups into a uniform, consistently prepared, accurate, informative and comprehensible bank book and other marketing information supporting transactions. Maintain sales documentation templates and recommend changes as needed.
  • Comprehend and interpret loan documentation to recommend appropriate course of action for requests.
  • Compile market information and conduct marketing studies and other analysis to support marketing efforts.
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of multi-lender bank groups and loan structuring, rates, fees and documentation.
  • Process amendment waivers and credit actions drafting communications to investors.
  • Attend industry team meetings and represent Syndications team at other internal and external functions to explain and administer the Syndications process.
  • Serve as a resource for accounting and regulatory issues related to shared credits ensuring accuracy of Lending Partner allocations, pro-rata % and shared fees.
  • Subject matter expert in regard to secured sharing sites – Syndtrak. Provide training and support for teammates.

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, or agricultural economics, with an emphasis on finance, accounting, or management preferred. 3-5 years of credit related experience in a commercial and/or agricultural lending industry preferred.

    Duties require:

  • Strong writing skills with the ability to author, coordinate and compile lengthy book like documents from several authors and comprehend industry language terminology.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong background in interpreting legal documents.
  • Self-starter, with the ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Knowledgeable of multi-lender accounting and regulatory issues.
  • Keeps current on the Capital Markets segment of the financial services industry.
  • Analytical skills to conduct research and financial analysis.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and effectively demonstrate team building attitude and skills.
  • Proficient in Windows environment using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.

  • Ongoing external contact with Farm Credit System Banks and Associations, Wall Street investment banks and brokers, commercial banks with national and regional footprints.
  • Ongoing internal contact with Capital Markets relationship officers, Agribusiness Capital relationship managers and credit staff, legal counsel, finance and accounting personnel, senior Associations’ officers, special assets officers and internal credit review.
  • Frequent contact with the representatives of our Associations’ largest borrowers.

  • Ability to answer telephone conversation and face-to-face conversation to serve customers and give and receive information from staff, vendors, outside consultants and the public.
  • Ability to use computer. This involves reading the screen and keying/typing information.
  • Speak and make presentations to individuals or groups on technical subjects related to job.
  • Ability to travel via auto or commercial transportation to carry out essential responsibilities of the job.
  • Ability to successfully interact with and represent the organization to staff, officers, board members, customers, vendors, and/or the public at all levels.
  • Provide sound technical advice to leaders and other staff in the subject field(s) related to this position.
  • Ability to understand and explain various subject matter and consulting concepts, programs, terminology, and methods.
  • Ability to reason, judge, compare, calculate, evaluate, decide, and critique such information as written material, numerical data, responses to customer needs, and/or other related work activities.
